SCIENCE EDUCATION SPECIALIST, ADJUNCT PROFESSOR OF BIOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND GLOBAL CAMPUS
Throughout his career as an educator and science education specialist, Dr Mecca has explored his passion for biology and science curriculum development both in and out of the classroom.
From helping track turtle populations off the coast of Puerto Rico, to helping develop a sustainable
hydroponics and aquaponics programme in a public high school in Virginia (USA), Dr Mecca’s
experience and expertise helps him to guide the next generation of learners.
Dr Mecca has served as a high school science teacher, science education consultant, administrator,
and a faculty member at multiple US universities. He was also the Instructional Systems Specialist
for Science with the US Department of Defense Schools. Dr Mecca enjoyed collaborating with
other educators on ways to improve teaching, as they are constantly re-evaluating their curriculum,
instruction and assessment strategies due to changes in educational programmes and policies.
