Biography

Loretta Sanders is a Curriculum and Instructional Leader who has gained work experience in North Carolina and the GCC. Over her 22-year career, she has held various curriculum-based leadership roles, from Elementary Curriculum Director to Vice Principal overseeing Professional Development and School Programs, and Deputy Head over Academics. Loretta has led teams of teachers and Heads of Department in creating a rigorous and balanced K-12 curriculum using Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards while ensuring integration of 21st Century skills for a student population of 40 nationalities for multiple schools. In her various instructional leadership roles, Loretta has invested vast amounts of time researching and building her expertise in all related areas. Her passion is to share her knowledge about and enthusiasm for this field with fellow educators and ultimately have an impact on learners in classrooms everywhere.
Expanding the Boundaries of Education
Education for global citizenship helps young people develop the core competencies which allow them to actively engage with the world and help to make it a more just and sustainable place. In this session, we will discuss the current changes in technology that are expanding the boundaries of the human race and influencing the current changes in education

Preparing Students to be Global Citizens: A Local Perspective

The situation of learning in MENA calls for a holistic, lifelong and vision of education that maximizes the potential of all children and youth in the region and better equips them to create meaning out of knowledge and to face the transitions from childhood to adulthood, from education to work, and from unreflective development to responsible and active citizenship. This panel will discuss what it means to be a global citizen while growing up and studying locally. The panel will explore and exchange ideas about the interconnectedness of cultures and the shared human values and responsibilities needed to be productive global citizens
Education, Preparing the Next Generation of Global Citizens A global citizen is aware of and understands the wider world – and their place in it. They take an active role in their community and work with others to make our planet more peaceful, sustainable and fairer. This session will discuss curriculum needs, strategies and available resources that will prepare students to become global citizens.
